Five Core is India’s largest audio equipment manufacturing group and also the 5th largest exporter in India of consumer electronics.

Ineet shares his views on doing business and how to become a successful entrepreneur.

Q. What are the changes you have brought about in your family business ?
A. Since I was in school I had realised one thing that my brand needed to be recognised by consumers in the Indian market. We are doing so well globally but we do not have that following in India. So my focus from the beginning has been to make Five Core Electronics Ltd a household name and that is where I had decided to put all my energies into.

Q. What is the best advice that you have received ?
A. My grandfather used to always say “Let the customer earn from your products , because if they earn you don’t need to worry about your earnings” and I have always tried to implement his teachings in whatever I do.

Q. ‘Great leaders are also great speakers” Do you agree? How did your personality development classes help you in your business ?
A. Great leaders are masters at public speaking. If you want to bring about certain changes, if you want to motivate your team, your distributors, your shareholders, your suppliers then you need to be a good communicator. Without the power to communicate effectively it would be difficult to influence decisions, form connections, motivate people and bring about change.

While pursuing my studies at IIPM I was given rigorous training in public speaking and personality development and these classes transformed me. To put it simply this was the place where I discovered the diamond within me. This was the place where I understood the meaning of personality development. Today as my company readies to launch its IPO I realise all the more the importance of speaking effectively in front of people. Today I feel I have the power to convince people and make them believe in my dream, my vision.

Q. What is the secret to running a successful business?
A. Passion is the most important thing, for it is passion and a whole lot of energy that is required to convert an idea into a successful venture. Add to that a very positive attitude. One must have a ‘Never Say Die’ attitude to be able to fulfil one’s dream.

Q. One piece of advice you would like to give to someone just starting out ?
A. It is extremely important to answer these questions and in this order.

• First - identify the ‘What’. Be very clear about what you want to do.
• Second - ‘Why ’. Why do you want to do it ?
• Third - ‘How’. You should be clear about the way forward

Once you have figured out the answers to these question do not deviate from your main plan come what may. Remember ‘persistence’ is the final word.

Q. What motivates you ?
A. There can be no bigger motivator than success. Facing obstacles and overcoming hurdles is what keeps me motivated. I take challenges head-on and overcome them- that keeps me going.

Q. What makes you happy ?
A. Spreading happiness.

Q. What sacrifices have you had to make to become a successful entrepreneur?
A. Girlfriends!

Q. Your favourite quote ?
A. "Count Your Chicken Before They Hatch".

Q. Your favorite vacation spot ?
A. Any place with snow-capped mountains.

Q. Your favourite movie ?
A. Chak de India - An example of perfect leadership.
The Founder - A story about the importance of persistence.

Q. The high point of your life.
A. The highest point in my life will be when in a few days time my company will be listed at the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Q. One song that describes your current state of mind?
A. 'Not Afraid' - Eminem.
